I began my career as a Psychotherapist in 2010 in the field infant and children’s mental health. Working with children and their families, many of whom experienced early trauma, I developed a passion for better understanding the impact of our early experiences on our social, emotional, relational, and cognitive development. This led me to the field of neuropsychotherapy – that is, how our brain and biology influence our mental health and behaviour.

Our brain is the most important organ in our body - it determines what we think and feel, what we say and do, and how we perceive our world. Our brain is shaped by each and every experience we have, right from the moment it starts to develop. While our brain is responsible for a lot of good, it can also be the source of our struggles. Anxiety, depression, self-esteem, difficulties in relationships, struggles in parenting, all stem from the way our brain fires. Working from this perspective - combined with therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, family therapy, mindfulness, attachment theory - we will work together to better understand the source of the struggle that brought you to seek support and work together to make positive change. Within the therapeutic relationship, we have the ability to be reflective of how the past can cause us to become stuck, how we may be so overwhelmed by the negative in the present that we are missing out on the good, and how fear and worry about the future can overwhelm us and get in the way of living the life we would like to be living.

This work can be hard and change takes time. I work from the perspective that results are achieved through small incremental changes and so we have to be patient with ourselves during this process. Within this caring and compassionate relationship, I can support you in starting this journey.
